This morning was the official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the W2 Culture and Media House; the first independent media centre of its kind, offering space and providing the infrastructure, resources and support for unaccredited media, independent journalists and bloggers from around the world and around the corner who are covering this story of Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Games.

With 4 days until the Olympics begin in Vancouver, Bell, Canadas' largest phone network offered a taste of the world's first all-IP (internet protocol) Games. This is the first Olympic Games, in history, to be broadcast and shared across a fibre, digital infrastructure.
CODE Dialogues at Emily Carr University
On the 6th of February, 2010, to coincide with the opening of CODE Live at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, the Cultural Olympiad 2010 and Emily Carr presented a one-day forum that brought together national and international artists, (many of which were exhibiting work within CODE) curators and thinkers for a series of dialogues on the relationships between digital technologies and creative practices today.

Third International Sport Business Symposium - Vancouver
This call for abstracts is directed to researchers of all disciplines. The Third International Sport Business Symposium calls for research directly related to the business of the Olympic Games; the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games, as well as prior and future Olympic, Youth, and Paralympic Games. Papers about Olympic media, legacy, tourism, consumers, organizations, finance, economics, environment, Paralympics and others are welcome. The official language for abstracts and the Symposium is English.
Intellectual Muscle
Intellectual Muscle is an eclectic series of talks by prominent and up-and-coming Canadian intellectuals on topics related to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Public lectures will be delivered at universities across Canada and made available online in podcast form. The online program will include polls, discussion forums and other interactive features, providing Canadians with a unique opportunity to participate in a series of national dialogues.
