The Olympic & Paralympic Cauldron

2026.01.21

“The design of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic cauldrons has been unveiled.

For the first time in the history of the Games, two cauldrons will be lit and extinguished simultaneously in two different cities.

One will be located at the Arco della Pace in Milan, and the other in Piazza Dibona in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Designed by Marco Balich in partnership with Fincantieri, the cauldrons are made from lightweight aeronautical aluminium and feature a dynamic opening and closing structure that protects the Olympic Flame.

The lighting on 6 February 2026 will mark the end of the Olympic Flame’s journey across Italy and one of the key moments of the Opening Ceremony.

The cauldrons will remain lit throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, before being extinguished in March.”
